Message on Slidell town Website:
"Hurricane Katrina Update 9-10-05.
To the Citizens of Slidell,
Weather Service reports that Slidell had sustained winds of 176 mph and
gusts of 190+ mph during Hurricane Katrina. In addition, Slidell was
hit by a 23' - 26' storm surge that devastated much of the city. This
has been very devastating for everyone, but we are making great
progress thanks to the many city workers, police officers,
firefighters, military troops, citizens and volunteers who have worked
so hard these last few weeks."
